The Entomology Unit at the Manhiça Health Research Centre (CISM) has established an entomological surveillance system and vector species and densities, malaria infection rates, time and place of biting, levels of insecticide susceptibility and efficacy of IRS campaigns are monitored. These data inform MALTEM on the most cost-effective and successful vector control strategies to be implemented in the South. Specific operational studies are conducted in order to inform programmatic aspects of the elimination strategy. The consultant will: • Design and implement new operational research studies, which includes the drafting of proposals and SOPs/SSPs; • Co-supervise field and laboratory personnel to ensure ongoing entomological surveillance and operational studies are performed accurately, according to protocols;• Support in the maintenance of the entomology laboratory and insectary in Manhiça; • Perform data analvsis and write reports and/or publications resulting from work.
